I cannot believe this was almost twenty years ago?! It seems like yesterday when I was watching this back in 06 shortly after the upload. Just wanted to say a quick thank you for all the views I've accumulated over the years. My best friend since around 1st grade passed last week, this song has eased my soul. We both went to so many shows over the years and loved the passion that Warren would bring to any lineup. We got to see Allen Woody's last two shows back to back in 2000. Gov't Mule in Endicott and The Allmans the next day @Montage as we were hoping the two would make an appearance after playing so close. Thank you

Good to see them at work here. I'm not sure which members of the band would admit this, but it seems clear to me that going into the studio to do albums was actually healthy for them...forced them to write new songs and discipline themselves....this paid off in the shows by allowing them to bring in fresh material. Their decline as a musical unit and spiritual brotherhood I would argue really kicked into gear when they stopped being under the pressure to do an album every year or two...this started around 1982, after they put out Go To HEaven and Reckoning and Dead Set in 80 and 81 and were going to do another studio album in 82 but then got into a dispute with Arista over producers and advance money. The band especially Jerry responded by getting harder into both drugs and touring and they waited until 1987 to go back to recording. The approach seemed vindicated when In The Dark came out at just the right time to be a huge success. Built to last was the last time they ever had to do an album "on deadline" and it led directly to their last really good year as a live unit, 1989-1990.

I was at this show. Late summer early fall of 02. It was two nights of Phil Lesh and friends with Warren Haynes and Jimmy herring playing with them. Willie Nelson open the first night Bobby Weir and Ratdog the second night. And this great performance thrown in for good measure. Great times

This was at what was then the Hilton in Lake Geneva, WI in 88 (edit - it was '87...I'm getting old) during the Alpine run. Jerry was there too. I was 22 and we were dropping off some younger folks before heading back to the lot when someone came out and said they were in there. My friend's "chaperone" (older sibs) got us past hotel security and for about an hour or so we witnessed this amazing display. Bobby disappeared after a bit, Billy was DRUNK and hitting on my friend's much older sister, Brent never stopped playing, Jerry joined him for a bit. A couple of us who were there ran into Jerry and Brent on Bourbon Street way later, the night before a New Orleans show, and Jerry looks at us, "Hey! You guys were at that bar in Wisconsin, man!" *That* was a seminal moment for me.

It is. Usually I am not a fan of zoos but it was pretty cool, the animals have fairly large areas to hang out in. Kids loved it! Can't really remember what those things are, but they are trippy looking.

Good god man, can't you let a man enjoy his persian in peace. Actually, wish some of the people around him would've done the exact opposite of that. Might've gotten a few more years outta the old man. 80s might not have been so sporadic and the 90s might not have been darn near a complete wash for Jerry
